アメリカのファストフードチェーンTexas Chickenが、タイでの全店舗を9月末までに閉店すると発表した。タイでの9年間の営業が終わりを迎える。
同社はソーシャルメディアで、顧客に感謝の意を示し、9月30日に閉店する前に最後の食事を楽しむよう呼びかけた。
「It’s time to say goodbye to Texas Chicken after nine years of delicious memory. But don’t be sad as we will part with smiles and happiness. Let’s create the final memory together by filling yourselves and having fun before this legend ends」と同社は投稿。
Texas Chickenは、タイではPTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (PTTOR)と提携して運営していた。
今年6月現在、タイのTexas Chickenの店舗数は100店舗から97店舗に減少した。タイのフライドチキン市場は270億バーツ（約9,000億円）とされており、KFCが市場の90％を占めている。
PTTORは、Texas Chickenの撤退後にPTTガソリンスタンドの空いたスペースを埋めるブランドやチェーンについてはまだ明らかにしていない。
